Ideas for class activities:

        - Look at and describe what each instrument looks like

        - Listen and identify which brass instrument is playing

                    (What does it sound like?  Which one is higher/lower?)

 

Encourage students to bring questions

We will include a brief time for questions near the end of the performance.  In addition, depending on our schedule and the students’ schedules there may be a few minutes afterwards for further interaction.

 

Tips on being a good audience:

    - Listening happens best when you do not talk or interact with your neighbor

    - Listen with your eyes as well as your ears

    - Respond appropriately to the music: Applause is a way of saying “thank you” to the performers at the end of a piece of music.  Yelling, screaming, whistling at the end is not usually acceptable at a concert of this kind of music.

 

What is “International Chamber Artists?”

International – We are a group of musicians who come from a diverse background, have played in different parts of the world, and play music from all over the world.

 

Chamber – What we play is called chamber music.  This type of music was originally written for someone’s room (or chamber) thus it was performed by a small group.  Today it is often played just about anywhere someone can listen to it.

 

Artists – We are people who create art, not that you see, but hear.
